Arunachal: Union Minister reviews implementation of women and child development schemes
Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur stressed the importance of effective implementation of various government schemes to ensure inclusive growth. While reviewing the implementation of various schemes and programmes related to the welfare of women and children in the state at the Banquet Hall here on Saturday, Thakur assured that problems in the implementation of the nutrition tracker in the state, such as “frequent updates of the application and three-day buffer period for no-network areas”, would be resolved at the earliest. Acknowledging the issues of pending funds related to CWC and JJ Board raised by Women and Child Development Commissioner Mimam Tayeng and Women and Child Development Director TW Thongon, the Union Minister assured to look into the issues. Earlier, the Women and Child Development Commissioner apprised the Union Minister of financial issues related to construction of destitute homes in the state, pending funds related to CWC, JJB and others like it. She highlighted the difficulties faced by Anganwadi workers in the districts, especially in no-network areas. The commissioner also spoke about legal adoption of children in Arunachal and said that being the state with the lowest population density in the country, adoption-related cases are very low in Arunachal.
Thongon made a presentation on the status of schemes and programmes and challenges being faced in the state.
State Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul highlighted the major concerns related to women and child development during the meeting.
Joint Secretary of Women and Child Development Sangeeta Yirang and Deputy Director of Women and Child Development C Tangzang also spoke.
Advisor to Minister of Women and Child Development Tsering Lhamu, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development, CDPOs and other officials of Women and Child Development Department also attended the meeting.
