Girl’s suicide case: State Youth Commission registers a voluntary case in the incident

Kerala: The State Youth Commission has registered a voluntary case in the incident where a 19-year-old woman from Kondotty committed suicide after her husband insulted her because of her colour. Chairman M. Shajar informed about this. He said that the commission will take strict action in all violence against women and has sought a report from the district police chief on the matter. The Youth Commission has also filed a case against Rahul Eashwar on the complaint of the Women’s Commission and sought action against Rahul Eashwar saying that he is constantly insulting women through news channels and is involved in creating anti-women public consciousness.
The commission suggested that panelists who insult people’s lives in channel discussions should not participate in the discussion. The commission demanded that clear guidelines should be issued in discussions about people facing sexual violence and strict legal action should be taken against those who abuse women in cyber space. The commission also sought an explanation regarding the expulsion of an NCC cadet from Mancheri NSS College for contesting the college union elections.
33 complaints were received in the district level court held in the Collectorate hall. 16 complaints were resolved. 17 complaints were postponed for the next meeting. Youth Commission Chairman M. Shajar, Commission members P. Shabbir, P.P. Randeep, Administrative Officer Joseph Skaria and Assistant P. Abhishek were present.
