Delhi. Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former PM Manmohan Singh at home. All the senior Congress leaders who had gone to Karnataka have returned to Delhi. The central government has declared seven days of state mourning on the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. State mourning has been declared from 26 December to 1 January. Karnataka minister KH Muniyappa said, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s departure is a big loss for the country. He used to guide the new ministers. A great economist has left the world.
Bungalow number 3 on Motilal Nehru Road in Lutyens Delhi was the residence of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for about 10 years. Singh died on Thursday. He was 92 years old. Singh came to this huge Type-8 bungalow on a three-acre plot when Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister in May 2014. After becoming Prime Minister, Modi started living at 7 Race Course Road (now 7 Lok Kalyan Marg) and Singh at 3, Motilal Nehru Marg. Before Singh, the bungalow was the official residence of the then Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit. She vacated it after the Congress’ defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Dixit died in 2019 at the age of 81.
