Action on paddy Kochia, vehicle seized along with 150 sacks of paddy

Mahasamund. Taking action against illegal paddy business in village Tanga Pasa of Basna block, SDM Manoj Khande and his joint team conducted a raid at midnight. The team seized 150 sacks of illegal paddy, a tractor and a Mazda vehicle.

According to sources, illegal paddy was being transported through the forest by paddy Kochia Chandan Patel of Bhatgaon area. This paddy was being transported to Basna through the path built by the forest department in the marshy area. Villagers say that the paddy mafia had also got this route repaired to make it smooth.

Due to the movement of heavy vehicles on this route, the culvert has reached the state of collapse. During the action, it was also found that many vehicles of Chandan Patel are engaged in paddy transportation without number plates. However, in this campaign, the team was successful in seizing only one Mazda vehicle. The illegal paddy and seized vehicles have been handed over to Tanga Pasa’s paddy procurement center in-charge Sevan Chaudhary. The SDM has instructed the local Kotwar and Patwaris to increase vigilance in their respective areas and keep an eye on illegal activities. Basna Mandi Sub Inspector Dinesh Yadav, Patwari Devangan and other employees were also present in this action.
