Liquor seized from cold drink bottles, Kochia arrested

Raigarh. Chakradharnagar police took major action in the case of illegal liquor sale by raiding the house of Jaikumar Chauhan in village Chirwani. TI Chakradharnagar Prashant Rao had received information from an informer that Jaikumar Chauhan is keeping Mahua liquor for sale in the courtyard of his house.

On the basis of the information received, a team of constables Abhay Narayan Yadav and Shanti Kumar Miri, led by female head constable Samund Rankar, raided the house of Jaikumar Chauhan. In this action, a total of 12 liters of Mahua liquor was recovered from the possession of the accused in 6 cold drink bottles of two-liter capacity each. The estimated price of the seized liquor is said to be Rs 2400. Accused Jaikumar Chauhan, father Dilip Singh Chauhan (age 40 years), resident of Chirwani, was arrested on the spot. The seizure process was completed in front of witnesses and the accused was brought to Chakradharnagar police station.

The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 34(2), 59(a) of the Excise Act and sent him on remand. This action of the Chakradharnagar police has dealt a severe blow to the illegal liquor trade in the area.
