Tamil Nadu: Party State Secretary M. Veerapandian stated that a seven-day mourning period will be observed following the death of senior leader I. Nallakannu.
A statement issued by him on Wednesday stated: I. Nallakannu began as a basic member of the Communist Party of India and rose to the position of Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the party. He also held senior positions such as Central Control Committee Chairman and National Executive Committee Member.
He was a personification of purity, simplicity, morality, and selflessness in public life, earning him the love and respect of the people of Tamil Nadu.
He fought uncompromisingly against communal and casteist forces. It is a profound tragedy to lose a senior political leader who stood by his experience. M. Veerapandian stated that party flags will fly at half-mast for seven days to mourn his passing.
