Vasco: In a heartbreaking incident at Consua Junction, tragedy struck when 61-year-old Francis D’Silva lost his life in a fatal accident involving three vehicles. The incident, which took place on Friday afternoon, has sent shockwaves through the village community and a police investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the clash.
The three vehicles involved in the collision included a scooter, which was being driven by deceased Francis’ son, a motorcycle and a carrier rickshaw. All the vehicles were going in the same direction. At the time of the collision, Francis D’Silva was traveling on the pillion seat of a two-wheeler.
Aaron D’Silva, son of the deceased, sustained injuries in the accident. Verna police team and ambulance reached the spot, which provided medical aid to the injured before taking him to a nearby hospital for further treatment. After the accident, locals have demanded that ramblers be installed at Consua Junction and even at traffic signals.
Eyewitnesses reported extensive damage to the vehicles involved. Local residents and passersby attempted to assist the victims while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Otherwise, the police have registered a case against the motorcyclist, Soma Gavas of Zuarinagar, under sections 279 (rash and negligent driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt) and 304 (causing death).
