New Delhi. Police has taken major action regarding the boat accident in Vadodara, Gujarat. Children of a private school at Harni Lake in Vadodara had gone for a picnic on behalf of the school. Vadodara Police has arrested 6 accused related to Vadodara boat accident. Police have registered an FIR against 18 people in the case of death of 14 people due to boat capsizing here. In fact, in this accident that happened on Thursday evening, 12 students and two teachers aboard died when the boat capsized. These people, who had come for a picnic, were riding a boat in Harni Lake when this accident happened. They would not have even imagined that this picnic would prove fatal for them.
Police officials had said that there were 27 people on board the boat, which included 23 students and four teachers. Taking action in this matter which happened late in the evening, FIR has been registered against five accused at Harni Police Station under sections 304, 308 and 337 of IPC. Along with this, the Gujarat government has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident and directed the Vadodara District Collector to submit the investigation report within 10 days.

Speaking to Midya, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Sanghvi said, ’12 students and two teachers have died in the boat capsizing incident. Of these, 18 students and 2 teachers have been rescued. According to the news we received, only 10 students on board the boat were wearing life jackets which proves that it was a big mistake on the part of the organisers.’ Sanghvi said that sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 308 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) An FIR has been registered under IPC (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and two people have been arrested. He further said that a team has also been formed to nab other culprits.
Vadodara Chief Officer Partha Brahmbhatt said that even before the agencies reached the spot, local residents had evacuated some people to safety. The Gujarat government has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident and directed the Vadodara District Collector to submit the investigation report within 10 days. A notice issued by the state home department said that the collector has been asked to thoroughly investigate the reasons and circumstances that led to the incident.
