Kokrajhar: The 56th conference of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is all set to be held from February 2 to 4 at Hirimba NWGR, Telishal in Golaghat district. The historic session is likely to mainly discuss the proper implementation of all. clauses of the BTR agreement in a time bound manner.
Speaking to media persons ahead of the 56th Golaghat conference of ABSU, President Deepen Boro said that the student organization is working for the betterment of the Bodo people of Sonitpur and Vishwanath districts. He said ABSU discussed with the Government of India and Assam the issue of land related problems and inclusion of more villages in the proposed expansion area of BTR.
Sonitpur and Vishwanath have forest villages recognized under the Forest Rights Act, he said, adding that ABSU has taken up land related issues with the Assam government and BTR and so far 4500 families from the forest villages of both Sonitpur and Vishwanath have been given FRA. Land ownership certificates were given under. He also said that in the coming days, more families will be given land certificates to include them in BTR.
Boro said that the people of Sonitpur and Vishwanath have made tremendous contributions and sacrifices for the Bodoland movement and have come forward and worked for the upliftment of the community. He said that the Bodo people of both the districts are still working for the strong foundation of Bodo and the flourishing of culture, language and literature. He further said that ABSU will raise its voice for inclusion of villages under BTR as per the spirit of the agreement in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, preparations for the historic 56th session of ABSU in Golaghat district are almost complete. ABSU unit of various universities including representatives from Assam state and guests from neighboring states and countries are invited.
