51 year old widow stoned to death, police starts investigation
Cuttack: A 51-year-old woman was allegedly stoned to death by unidentified miscreants in Barasingha village under Barang police limits late on Sunday night.
Police identified the deceased as Urmila Biswal. On Monday morning, locals found her semi-nude body lying behind a cowshed near her house with a blood-stained stone and a wooden plank lying nearby. On information, police reached the spot and started investigation.
Biswal’s son Parth Sarathi said he was doing night duty at his workplace in Athagarh at the time of the incident. He said his wife had gone to her parents’ house and so Biswal, a widow, was alone at home with her 90-year-old father-in-law and a physically handicapped person. тАЬI spoke to my mother on phone at 9.45 pm. On Monday morning, my cousin called me and told me that someone had killed my mother with a stone,тАЭ he said.
Zone-4 ACP Swastik Panda said that the widow was murdered by crushing her with a stone. тАЬWe have collected some fingerprints and are investigating the case,тАЭ he said.
