Lifestyle: Rainy season is considered to be the most favorable time to start gardening at home. During this period, moisture remains in the soil and plants grow rapidly. If you have a balcony, terrace or small courtyard, you can easily grow many vegetables. This not only provides fresh and chemical-free vegetables, but also keeps the house green.
Coriander: An essential green leaf for every kitchen. Coriander is a green leaf which is used daily in almost every Indian household. It is very easy to grow it. It is considered best to sow coriander between July and September. Break its seeds lightly and sprinkle them in loose soil and add light soil on top. By giving light water daily, fresh coriander is ready in about 20 to 30 days.
Spinach: Nutrition Rich Green Vegetable Spinach is one of the easily grown vegetables in the rainy season. Its seeds can be sown from the beginning of monsoon till September. Sow seeds mixed with cow dung manure in 8 to 10 inch deep pots and keep the soil slightly moist. Harvesting of spinach starts in about 30 to 40 days.
Fenugreek: Better option even in less space Fenugreek is a better option for those who have less space. July and August are the most suitable time for this. Soak the seeds overnight and sprinkle them in the pot and add light soil. With regular watering, fenugreek leaves are ready in 20 to 25 days.
Green chilli: an easy crop to grow at home Green chilli is a necessity in almost every kitchen and it can be easily grown in pots also. This plant grows rapidly in the rain. Take a plant from the nursery and plant it in a 12-inch pot and keep it in a sunny place. Peppers start sprouting in about 60 days. Giving organic fertilizers from time to time improves production.
Bottle gourd: Good yield even in small space Bottle gourd vine grows very well if it gets a little more space. Its sowing is considered correct from June to August. Support the vine by planting 2 to 3 seeds in a large pot or grow bag. Bottle gourd crop starts getting harvested in about 60 to 70 days.
Important tips for gardening at home: It is important to keep some things in mind while growing vegetables at home. There should be proper arrangement for drainage of water in the pots so that water does not accumulate. Too much water can damage the roots of plants.
To protect against insects, neem oil should be sprayed from time to time. It is important for plants to get at least 3 to 4 hours of sunlight every day. Also, adding organic fertilizers to the soil improves the growth of plants and also gives good yield. If the rainy season is used properly, the terrace and balcony of the house can also become a small vegetable garden, from which fresh and healthy food can be easily available.
