5 sugar factories will be built soon in Brahmapuri area, MLA Vijay Wadettiwar

Maharashtra: Work is going on on a war footing to supply water of Vidarbha’s largest Gosekhurd project to every taluka of Brahmapuri assembly constituency. Five sugar mills will start in the region in the near future. Also, it will soon be possible for farmers to earn double the income due to the availability of abundant water. In such a situation, to uplift the farmers and get cash benefits, the Agriculture Department should explain to the farmers the importance of changing the crop pattern in the upcoming season and should talk to more and more farmers for cultivating maize and sugarcane, former opposition leader of the state and MLA of Brahmapuri assembly constituency Vijay Wadettiwar directed in a meeting held recently in Brahmapuri. In the meeting, a detailed review of the public welfare schemes of the Agriculture Department for farmers and other important matters was done.

MLA Vijay Wadettiwar said that the benefit of Pokhra Yojana being implemented in the district should be given to the beneficiaries of as many villages as possible. Since farmers are getting plenty of water for farming from Gosekhurd, the vision of the industrialists is that five sugar mills should be proposed in this area in the coming time and farmers who can earn double income should be encouraged to cultivate maize and sugarcane. So that the farmers here get a fair price for their agricultural products and the citizens of the area get the double benefit of employment, he said. Currently, the work of ethanol project in MIDC Mul is in the final stage and ethanol will be produced from maize and paddy.

For this, increasing quantity of maize and paddy will be required as raw material and the goods of the farmers will get a fair price according to their quality. Meanwhile, the structure of the farm land is also improving according to the changing crop system and farmers should grow maize and sugarcane crops giving cash profit based on the changing crop system. For this, former leader of opposition of the state and MLA of Brahmapuri assembly constituency Vijay Wadettiwar directed that the Agriculture Department should establish dialogue with farmers in the entire surrounding area of Brahmapuri assembly constituency and create awareness among farmers for the upliftment of farmers and to provide agriculture based employment in the area. Mainly Brahmapuri Taluka Congress President Khemraj Tidke along with all the Taluka Agriculture Officers, Divisional Agriculture Officers, Agriculture Supervisors and Agriculture Servants of the Agriculture Department were present in the meeting.
