A big disclosure has been made in the departmental investigation in the case of irregularities in the purchase of paddy at the paddy procurement center Chhatan located in Fasterpur police station area of the district. During physical verification, a case of fraud of Rs 49,04,200 worth 1582 quintals of paddy has come to the fore. Applicant Virendra Tandon Branch Manager, District Cooperative Central Bank Limited, Setganga filed a report by submitting a written application on 8 July 2024. It was told that as per the orders of Assistant Commissioner Cooperative and Assistant Registrar Mungeli, inspection and physical verification of paddy procurement center Chhatan was done on 19 June 2024. During this, the physically available paddy was matched as per the records provided by paddy procurement in-charge Purnendra Yadav, online paddy purchase and gunny bag report. In the investigation, it was found that in the year 2023-24, a total of 87,443.60 quintals of paddy was purchased at the Procurement Center Chhatan, out of which 81,907.60 quintals of paddy was delivered to the millers. But only 6,500 sacks were found filled in the stock of the paddy procurement center, while the estimated weight of 3,955 sacks was found to be short by 1582 quintals.
In this way, the police registered a case under sections 420 and 409 against paddy procurement in-charge Purnendra Yadav on charges of fraud and breach of trust and took it into investigation. Here, after the FIR was registered, the accused had absconded, but the police arrested him after a lot of hard work and now he has been sent to jail.
