4 injured as truck hits two bikes, pedestrian

Four persons were injured after a runaway truck hit two motorcycles and a pedestrian near the Johdo bus stand in the industrial area of Kala Amb on Friday.

The victims were identified as Rajat Kumar (23) of Shahabad in Haryana, Subhash (21) of Rajasthan, Sunil (27) of Kangra and Amit Chauhan (48) of Nahan.

The incident took place around 8.45 am when the truck, laden with lead and en route to Ekta Enterprises, lost control and hit the victims on the Kala Amb-Trilokpur road before overturning.

The injured, who work in industrial units here, were taken to a hospital, where the condition of one of the victims is said to be critical.

According to information, the police detained the truck driver, identified as Abhinandan of Chamba. During questioning, he told the police that a pressure pipe burst led to the failure of brakes.

The police have also taken the driver’s blood samples for further investigation.
