Malda/Jalpaiguri. Malda/Jalpaiguri: A 35-year-old man was killed by his neighbour in Gabgachi-Jadupur in Malda on Wednesday night. The victim, Sanat Pal, died after being stabbed multiple times by his neighbour Shyam Ghosh, officials from English Bazar police station said. Sources said Ghosh had a quarrel with his wife, which upset the neighbours. Pal asked them to reconcile and stop fighting. This infuriated Ghosh and he picked up a knife and stabbed Pal multiple times. He also attacked another man.
Locals rushed to help and took both of them to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where Ghosh died. The other man is still undergoing treatment.
Elephant attack
Two elephants damaged six houses in Kranti block of Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri on Wednesday. Forest officials of Jalpaiguri Forest Division said that the elephants came out of Lataguri forest and reached Bargharia-Shimultala village in search of fodder. The stray animals damaged houses and ate the grains kept in the houses. Villagers gathered and chased the animals back to the forest by bursting crackers. Forest department officials reached the village on Thursday to assess the damage.
