Tamil Nadu: The Communist Party of India’s election manifesto outlines a 302-point action plan for the development of Tamil Nadu.
State Secretary M. Veerapandian released the Communist Party of India’s election manifesto for the Assembly elections on Tuesday. Key points included in the manifesto include: industrial development in Tamil Nadu, development of micro, small, and medium enterprises, agricultural development, irrigation facilities, preventing the commercialization of drinking water and providing safe drinking water to all, environmental development, protection of social justice, Tamil and Tamil culture, protection of labor welfare, improving the welfare of farmers, and actions to improve the lives of agricultural laborers.
Steps will be taken to abandon the ‘VP Ji Ram Ji’ scheme and re-implement the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act to provide 200 days of work per year and a daily wage of ₹200. 700.
Emphasis will be placed on protecting traditional industries, including handloom, improving the well-being of fishermen, increasing employment opportunities and the well-being of youth, improving education and student welfare, working for the advancement of women, the well-being of children, steps for the well-being of oppressed communities, protecting tribal people, maintaining the well-being of senior citizens, and further expanding medical facilities for the public. Steps will be taken to improve the well-being of journalists, including the establishment of a new remuneration committee and increasing benefits, including a pension scheme, for those working in visual media.
The central government will be urged to take multi-sectoral steps to control the alcohol and drug problem, establish alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers, amend the Lokayukta Act to curb corruption, and repeal laws, including the UPA Act.
Steps will be taken to prevent the implementation of the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens in Tamil Nadu.
Steps will be taken to implement electoral reforms, including protecting the welfare of minorities, transparent administration, local government administration, housing and land leasing, capping house rents, preventing double document fraud, and ensuring proportional representation to prevent monetary power and ensure true democracy.
Steps will be taken to uphold human rights and democratic rights, protect and promote the rights of the blind and disabled, and improve the lives of transgender and intersex persons.
The election manifesto states that a 302-point action plan will be implemented for the development of Tamil Nadu, including measures to protect temple land dwellers and farmers, implement the Kadalai Vazhi Cauvery project, and protect the firecracker industry.
