Korba. The number of elephants has reached 42 in Kendai New Range of Katghora Forest Division of the district. The tusk elephant which attacked and injured three people in Surguja forest division has reached Moraga area via Surajpur. Due to this, people in the surrounding villages have been alerted. Forest staff is busy monitoring it with thermal drone cameras.
There are now 42 elephants roaming in 3 herds in the Kendai Range. Chetak elephant, roaming in the dumping area near Matin Dai temple, has now joined the herd of 22 elephants. A group of 18 elephants is already roaming around. Five elephants have reached the forest of Bania area on Monday morning. The most feared thing is the tusk elephant coming from Surajpur. On Sunday the elephant was around Puta. On Monday, Dhajak reached the forest near Moraga. Ranger Abhishek Dubey said that different teams are engaged to monitor the elephants.
