In this context, it has issued an advisory to ship operators. It said that it is monitoring the situation in the Gulf of Oman, the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. It said that it has identified the possibility of missile and drone attacks in those areas.
It has advised ship operators to keep a close eye on the safety of their ships and report any suspicious activities immediately. According to the latest reports, there is no information about the detention of Indian-flagged ships, said Director General of Shipping Shyam Jagannathan. He said that the Indian Embassy in Oman will take steps to repatriate the crew members who have been rescued so far.
He said that a special response team has been formed to provide immediate assistance to Indian sailors stranded near the Persian Gulf and to evacuate them to India. He said that the officials of this team will be in constant contact with the Indian sailors affected by the war. He said that the team will also coordinate with the families of the sailors, shipping companies, trade unions, Indian missions abroad and the concerned port authorities.
