Maharashtra: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently filed a chargesheet against three people including the then prohibition officer posted at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House in Nhava Sheva. The accused are accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh in this case. The CBI said that this chargesheet was filed in the special CBI court in Alibag. The CBI has filed a chargesheet against the then preventive officer Shailendra Kumar Singh and two private persons. The CBI had registered a case in this case on February 12. In this, a chargesheet has been filed against the then preventive officer (inspector) Singh and others under various sections like criminal conspiracy, demanding bribe, taking bribe.
According to the CBI, the accused officer was working in the Custom House located at JNPT since July 2017. At that time the officer had received information that a gang was getting tax refund on the basis of fake invoices, after which he demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh on settlement and Rs 10 thousand for accepting each fake receipt in future. After that the accused took a bribe of Rs 25 lakh in installments through a private person. In this case, the CBI had seized the mobile phone of the private person. Conversation regarding the bribe was found in it. Information about the distribution of the bribe money was also found. After investigating this case, the CBI said that a charge sheet was filed against the three accused last week.
