Himachal Pradesh: In a major breakthrough, two interstate drug smugglers from Uttarakhand have been arrested with 5.53 kg of charas (cannabis) in Shimla. The accused have been identified as Rajmohan (34) of Sewa village of Muri tehsil in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district and Sohan Das (57) of Adabdi village in the same tehsil. The accused were arrested from Jijendi Kainchi near Gasango bridge on Wednesday after the police received information that two interstate drug smugglers were travelling with the contraband. Taking immediate action, a special cell team of Shimla police launched patrolling in the area and arrested the accused. Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the report and said a case has been registered against the accused under sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigation is underway.
