New Delhi (IANS) | Customs officials of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) have arrested two passengers for smuggling gold worth Rs 62,82,379. The officers provided this information.
Both the persons were apprehended on the basis of APIS profiling at Terminal 3.
Both were found to be involved in a carefully crafted plan to smuggle gold of foreign origin into India using the domestic stage of a foreign-origin aircraft, the officials said.
A detailed check of the baggage and personal search of both the passengers led to the recovery of 1,200 grams of gold.
The gold has been seized under section 110 of the Customs Act.
The suspects have been arrested under section 104 of the Customs Act.
