Tamil Nadu: The government has announced that 2.24 crore palm seeds have been planted across Tamil Nadu.
A press release issued by the Tamil Nadu Environment, Climate Change and Forests Department states:
The Tamil Nadu Environment, Climate Change – Forests Department, in collaboration with the Green Tamil Nadu Movement, launched a program to plant palm seeds across Tamil Nadu on September 16th. Under this program, a total of 2.24 crore palm seeds have been planted as of Friday (December 5th).
While 46 lakh palm seeds were planted last year, this year six times more seeds have been planted. The highest number of palm seeds were planted in Trichy and Ariyalur districts (20 lakh each), followed by Sivaganga and Perambalur districts (18 lakh each), and Tirupattur and Pudukkottai districts (10 lakh each).
Certificate Distribution: On the occasion of International Volunteer Day (December 5th), government certificates will be distributed to volunteers who helped plant the palm seeds. Volunteers are required to upload pictures of the locations where they planted the palm seeds on the Assistant app.
Through this, certificates with a government seal and a QR code can be obtained via the app. It is stated that everyone should upload pictures of the planted seeds on the app by the end of December.
