19 cases registered against peddlers, 10 consumers caught

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Anti Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) on Wednesday arrested drug smuggler Neethu Bhai, 45, along with 10 of his clients in Nanakramguda, against whom 19 cases are registered. Officials said Neethu was selling ganja to customers on a regular basis from her residence.

TSNAB director Sandeep Shandilya told TNIE, “There is a queue of people waiting outside his house to buy medicines, as if it was a ration shop. This is despite 19 cases against him.”

The police will also look into the possibility of invoking the Preventive Detention Act against him. Siddipet police on Tuesday caught some people who had bought ganja worth Rs 5,000 from Neethu. When they went to his residence, they found 15 people in a queue outside his house.
The next day, Siddipet police along with Gachibowli police visited the spot and caught 10 people who had purchased ganja from the seller.
Explaining his methodology, Shandilya said, “He has four layers of grills in his house. She opened two grills to let the customers inside.

Generally, if vendors suspect that the police are about to conduct a raid, they avoid it. “So as a precaution we had people plugging the manholes in case he flushed drugs into the manhole while we were clearing the grill maze,” he said.
