Business: On 5th October 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme at an event in Washim, Maharashtra. More than 9.4 crore farmers across the country will receive direct financial assistance of more than Rs 20,000 crore directly into their bank accounts. The event will be attended by several prominent dignitaries including Maharashtra Governor Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde. Around 2.5 crore farmers are expected to participate in the event through webcast, connecting from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and 5 lakh Common Service Centers across the country.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme launched on 24 February 2019, Rs 6,000 is given annually to landholder farmers in three equal installments. With the release of this 18th installment, an amount of more than Rs 3.45 lakh crore has been disbursed under this scheme so far, benefiting more than 11 crore farmers across the country. In Maharashtra alone, about Rs 32,000 crore has been disbursed to 1.20 crore farmers in 17 installments, making it the second highest beneficiary among all states. Over 91.51 lakh farmers of Maharashtra will get more than Rs 1,900 crore in this upcoming installment.
Along with the PM-KISAN installment, Prime Minister Modi will also release an additional ₹2,000 crore under the 5th installment of Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi Yojana, providing further financial assistance to farmers across Maharashtra.

Dedication of 9,200 FPOs to the nation: PM Modi will also dedicate over 9,200 FPOs (Farmer Producer Organisations) to the nation. These FPOs, formed under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) to promote FPOs, have a combined annual turnover of over ₹1,300 crore. They directly benefit over 24 lakh farmers, including women and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers, empowering them with collective bargaining and better access to markets.
