Berlin: Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director, Sebastian Kehl, has ended his tenure by “mutual consent.” The club announced this information in a statement released on Sunday.
This surprising announcement—under which Kehl is leaving the club with immediate effect—comes at a time when rumors were circulating that the former Dortmund player—who won three Bundesliga titles during his 13-year tenure with the club—was set to take up the position of Sporting Director at Hamburg.
Dortmund Board Member (Sport) Lars Ricken—who holds a higher position in the hierarchy than Kehl—stated that the decision was reached following a “very open discussion.”
