Bhubaneswar: The 14th edition of the annual cultural festival of the School of Medicine, KIMS – Karte Blanche – commenced today with much enthusiasm, celebrating creativity, innovation, and talent among medical students.
Founder of KIIT, KISS and KIMS, Achyuta Samanta, joined the celebration as he asked the future doctors to be good human being, irrespective of how popular they are. KIIT provides the best platform to nurture creativity and innovation. Strive to become an all-rounder,” he said.
On the occasion, Dr. R. C. Das, Dean and Principal of KIMS, encouraged students to look beyond academics and discover their creativity. “We teach you medicine, but we also want you to innovate, explore and become doctors with humility,” he said.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of the School of Medicine, Prof. C. B. K. Mohanty, highlighted that talent is an innate quality, while KIIT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh observed that doctors are multi-talented individuals. Prof. Subrat Acharya, Pro Vice-Chancellor, remarked that Karte Blanche offers students the opportunity for lateral thinking, stress relief, and the development of passions that can stay with them forever.
KIIT Registrar Prof J R Mohanty, Principal of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences Dr Ashwini Kar also participated in the celebration.
The event also witnessed the prize distribution ceremony. The MBBS batch of 2021 bagged the General Championship Grand Prize, along with the Fashion and Group Dance awards. The Dramatics Award went to the Bharatiya Drama Company.
