14 arrested during raid on illegal liquor units in Anakapalle

Visakhapatnam: Anakapalle police arrested 14 people and registered 21 cases during raids on illegal liquor units on Saturday. They seized 22 liters of illicit liquor, 30 liters of illicit arrack, known as ‘Natusara’, besides about 5,000 liters of jaggery being used in the production of illicit liquor was also destroyed.

Speaking at a press conference, district SP K.V. Muralikrishna said eight people were booked for drunk driving, while another 24 were booked for drinking alcohol in public places. Seeing the general elections approaching, the SP directed the officials to take necessary steps to ensure peaceful voting. This includes visiting polling stations, educating villagers about the election process and organizing flag marches along with central police forces in villages to prevent any possible disturbances, thereby ensuring a safe environment for voting. .
