13 lakh rupees looted in Jashpur, suspicion deepens on the complainant truck driver

Jashpur. A truck driver was robbed of ₹13 lakh (approximately $1.3 million) in the district. The driver was returning from Ranchi after unloading his cargo and loading potatoes. Four unidentified robbers assaulted the driver, tied his hands and feet, and carried out the robbery. However, the police investigating the case find the matter suspicious. The police are still investigating the incident from all angles.

Jashpur police have reported that this morning, on the highway in Balachappar, Jashpur, a truck bearing registration number CG14-MT-6190, which was returning from Ranchi after unloading its cargo and loading potatoes, was carrying ₹1.3 lakh (approximately $1.3 million) worth of goods from Ranchi. Four individuals allegedly robbed the driver and fled. Upon arriving at the scene and conducting detailed questioning, the driver revealed that he was returning from Ranchi. At 06.00 am in the morning, near Balchhapar, he had stopped the truck to urinate and got down, when a four-wheeler came from behind from which four people got down, tied his hands and legs and made him fall down, one person also hit him with a stick and stone, then they looted Rs 13 lakh and mobile phone kept in the vehicle and ran away. The driver’s mobile was found lying near Dodakchaura Dhaba.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and got the truck driver medically examined. Police officials said that the cyber team of the police is scanning the CCTV. Police teams have been sent to Jharkhand. However, the driver’s statement shows contradictions. He stated that his hands were tied, but there are no marks of tying them. He also stated that he was hit on his leg with a stick and on his waist with a stone, while his medical examination revealed no visible injury. He also stated that the robbers threw him to the ground while robbing him. According to the driver, it was 6:00 in the morning. If he had been thrown, his clothes would have been wet due to the dew and some grass would have stuck to them. However, this was not the case. The driver sometimes reports his hands being tied in front and sometimes behind. The police are also studying the contradictions in his statement. This is also an angle of the police investigation. In this case, Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh said that as per the information given by the applicant, the police is working professionally on all possible angles of the robbery. The police will try, if the incident has happened, then the robbers can be caught soon.
