Zirakpur news: 2 arrested in Baltana snatching case
Zirakpur: Police have arrested Shivraj Singh and Bhinder Singh, two youths of Raipur Khurd, involved in the snatching incident from an elderly woman in Baltana on June 9. A total of five stolen bikes, a scooter, a mobile phone, purse and important documents have been recovered from them. Baltana police post in-charge said that both of them have been produced in the court today and sent on two-day police remand. He said that the police is also investigating their involvement in other incidents. On June 9, two bike-borne youths snatched the purse of an elderly woman in Saini Vihar Phase-2 of Baltana. The incident was captured on CCTV camera. The victim, who was returning home from a satsang, fell on the road, then the miscreants snatched her purse and fled, due to which the woman got injured. The residents of the area expressed their displeasure over the deteriorating law and order in the area and the failure of the police to curb the terror of snatchers in Zirakpur.
Police arrested a member of the snatching gang. In another incident, police arrested a youth named Rajnish Kumar, a resident of VIP Road, in a snatching case. Police officials said that two bike-borne youths snatched a woman’s purse. They said that one of the youths was caught on the spot by passersby, while Rajnish managed to escape. He was arrested near Chhat village on Sunday. Police said that a gang of about 5-6 members has been active in Zirakpur and surrounding areas for the last few days.
