Youth sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in POCSO case
Hyderabad: A fast-track court in Ranga Reddy district here on Thursday sentenced a 19-year-old private employee to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a case registered against him under the POCSO Act.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 on the accused. It ordered a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the victim.
Saroornagar police registered a case against the accused under sections 366 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 12 of the POCSO Act as well as provisions of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and arrested him in 2017. . After completing the hearing, the court gave its verdict on Thursday.
