YEIDA’s 92nd Board Meeting: Jewar Airport region to become the country’s new industrial hub.

Greater Noida. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken a historic step towards propelling Uttar Pradesh to new heights in the realms of industrial investment, employment, and modern infrastructure. During the Authority’s 92nd board meeting held on Monday, the green light was given to several far-reaching and ambitious schemes aimed at the state’s holistic development.
Major proposals concerning industrial development, medical education, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, international transport, sports, and farmer welfare were unanimously approved during the meeting. These decisions are expected not only to rapidly transform the Noida International Airport area in Jewar into an integrated industrial and institutional hub but also to reshape the economic landscape of the entire Western Uttar Pradesh region.
Integrated Development of the Jewar-Noida Airport Region
Even before the commencement of operations at the Noida International Airport, YEIDA is working on a strategy to place the entire Yamuna Expressway region on the global map. The focal point of the decisions taken during the board meeting is the planned and integrated development of the areas surrounding the airport.
The Authority aims to transform this entire belt into a major hub for manufacturing, education, healthcare, sports, and logistics, rather than limiting it to just a transport hub. This will establish the region as the most attractive destination for global investors looking to invest in India.
Key Schemes and Board Approvals
Several special projects were approved during YEIDA’s 92nd board meeting, as follows:
Taiwan City and Japanese Electronics Cluster: Special industrial zones dedicated to Taiwanese and Japanese companies will be developed to boost electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. This initiative is expected to attract significant Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the high-tech manufacturing sector. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Cluster and Medical Device Park: Decisions regarding the allocation and infrastructure for a pharmaceutical cluster and a medical device park were approved to accelerate drug manufacturing and the indigenous production of modern medical equipment.
University Township and Medical Hub: A vast university township and a medical hub equipped with modern facilities will be established to foster self-reliance in the education and healthcare sectors. Leading domestic and international educational institutions and multi-specialty hospitals will be able to set up their units here.
International-Standard Sports Stadium: The path has been cleared for the construction of an international cricket and sports stadium featuring world-class facilities to nurture sporting talent and host international sporting events.
Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT): A modern Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) will be constructed to ensure seamless connectivity and strengthen the public transport system in the region, providing direct links to Delhi-NCR and other states.
New Opportunities for Investment and Employment
The projects approved during the board meeting have paved the way for capital investments worth billions of rupees in the state. This will generate direct and indirect employment and self-employment opportunities for lakhs of young people.
Local youth will secure jobs on a large scale in sectors ranging from technical education to pharmaceuticals, electronics, aviation, and sports management. Additionally, MSMEs and auxiliary units will directly benefit from these major projects.
Focus on Farmers’ Interests
The participation of farmers in this development drive was also highlighted. The YEIDA Board took positive decisions regarding various issues concerning farmers, including compensation for acquired land and proposals related to ‘lease-back’ arrangements. The Authority clarified that infrastructure and industrial development would proceed only with the welfare and consent of the farmers.
Contribution to Uttar Pradesh’s $1 Trillion Economy
These YEIDA projects will prove to be the backbone in realizing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s resolve to transform Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy. Projects such as Jewar Airport, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the proposed Film City, and now the Taiwan City and medical hub will collectively establish the Yamuna Expressway region as one of the most modern and prosperous industrial corridors—not just in Uttar Pradesh, but in all of India.
