Y.O. Nandan’s Action: Drive to Recover Outstanding Property Tax Intensifies

Nellore: Nellore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Y.O. Nandan launched a special drive on Tuesday to recover long-pending property tax arrears. As part of this initiative, he personally interacted with tax defaulters with the aim of boosting the city’s revenue.

In a significant instance of recovery, he met with a property owner from Lecturers Colony at a diagnostic center near the S2 Theatre area and successfully collected an outstanding amount of ₹8,77,827, which had been pending for the past five years. He appealed to the citizens to clear their tax dues and contribute towards the development of the city.

Earlier, accompanied by officials, Nandan toured the Chinna Bazaar area in the 46th Division to assess the sanitation and urban infrastructure conditions. He inspected the areas where encroachments had been cleared in the fruit and vegetable markets and directed officials to prevent vendors from encroaching upon roadsides by setting up pushcarts and baskets.

He issued a stern warning that any business operating beyond designated limits would be penalized and instructed officials to maintain constant vigilance. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, he urged residents and traders to install waste bins and refrain from littering on roads or in public spaces.

Together with Corporator Veluru Mahesh, the Commissioner also inspected the site of a vacated RO plant on Adhyaksham Street, near the vegetable market. Subsequently, he assessed encroachments on the roads near RSR School in Thadikala Bazaar and issued orders to take necessary measures to have them removed.

Officials from the Town Planning, Engineering, and Revenue departments participated in this drive, including In-charge Town Planner Raghunath Rao, Revenue Inspector Ravi, and staff members from the Ward Secretariat.
