Wrestlers organized langar at Jantar Mantar, provided food to all

New Delhi (IANS) | Demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, top Indian wrestlers organized a langar at Jantar Mantar here on Friday. The protesting wrestlers, led by Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik and Asian and Commonwealth Games medalist Vinesh Phogat, served food to all the people.
On Friday, not only the supporters of the country’s top sportspersons but also the common people participated in the langar.
Some of India’s top wrestlers have been staging a sit-in at Jantar Mantar for over a week, demanding action against the WFI president for alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had earlier this year constituted a monitoring committee from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) under the chairmanship of boxing legend MC Mary Kom to look into the WFI affairs and investigate the allegations. The Ministry recently informed that the report of the Monitoring Committee is under consideration.
