Women have become economically empowered through the Mahtari Vandan scheme.

Raipur. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has brought a new ray of hope, respect, and self-reliance into the lives of women in the state. An inspiring example of the success of this scheme is Bhagwati Ratre, a resident of Sanda village in the Baramkela development block of Sarangarh district, who, despite facing difficult circumstances, resolved to support her family with courage, wisdom, and hard work.

Bhagwati Ratre’s family consists of herself, her husband, and their three-year-old daughter. After her marriage, due to family circumstances, she had to live separately from her in-laws. The entire responsibility of the family rested on her husband, who somehow managed to run the household by working as a laborer. Unfortunately, a serious accident rendered her husband unable to work. Following this, the expenses of treatment, daily household expenses, and the needs of their young daughter plunged the family into a deep financial crisis.

In these challenging times, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana proved to be a source of strength for Mrs. Bhagwati Ratre. She did not limit the monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000 received under the scheme to just expenses, but also started saving regularly. With these savings and newfound confidence, she bought a sewing machine for Rs. 6,000 and took a step towards self-employment. Today, Bhagwati Ratre earns approximately Rs. 5,000 per month through tailoring. With this income, she is able to support her family, contribute to her husband’s treatment, provide for her daughter’s education, and meet the household needs with dignity. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has not only provided her with financial assistance but also instilled in her confidence, self-reliance, and social respect. Today, she stands firmly on her own feet and is an inspiration to other women.

Expressing her gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade for this positive change in her life, Bhagwati Ratre said that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has given her the opportunity to live with dignity by making her self-reliant.
