Women Congress workers staged a strong protest in Lucknow

UP: In Lucknow, women Congress workers protested wearing black clothes against the harassment of women and heinous crimes against them in the state. All these women were going to surround the Vidhan Sabha from the Congress headquarters. The police stopped all the Congress women workers near the party office by putting up barricades. When stopped by the police, the women workers raised slogans against the BJP government of the state. Mamta Chaudhary, State President of Congress Central Zone, who is leading the protest, said that the data of NCRB of the Home Ministry is showing that crimes against women are increasing continuously in Uttar Pradesh. There are many such districts in the state including Unnao, Hathras, where heinous crimes were committed against women.

The government has failed to get them justice. Women are not getting justice anywhere in the entire state. In such a situation, she is feeling insecure. In the hope of justice, she is reaching the Chief Minister’s house. When she is stopped from going there, she is forced to commit suicide.

Demanded 33% reservation for women: Mamta Chaudhary said that today a large number of women and girls are committing suicide due to increased unemployment and inflation in the state. The protesting women demanded 33% reservation from the BJP government. Mamta Chaudhary said that even before the protest started, the police detained the women workers of Congress before they could go to the Vidhan Sabha located in Hazratganj. This is against the Constitution, the police was already stopping those who were coming to the party headquarters. She alleged that Lucknow police personnel had forcibly made the women workers sit in the police vehicle.
