Woman trapped in Hong Kong returns home after 12 years

Punjab: Due to the efforts of Rajya Sabha Member Balbir Singh Seechewal, a woman trapped in Hong Kong has been brought back home after 12 years. The woman, a resident of Bhaini Sahib village in Ludhiana district, today visited Nirmal Kutia, Sultanpur with her family and expressed her gratitude to Seechewal. The victim woman said that she belongs to a poor family and is a mother of two daughters. She went to Hong Kong in 2012 on a tourist visa, but due to her desire to stay there permanently, she continued to work in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, she used to live in a room with another woman, but the woman threw her out of the room. The victim woman alleged that she complained to the local police against the woman, soon after which a local gangster started threatening her. This step cost her dearly, due to which she had to suffer mental agony for a long time, while the gangster kept threatening her. The victim’s sister, who had come with her to Nirmal Kutia, said, “The other woman threw away her belongings, leaving her homeless, following which my sister approached the local police.

That woman had good contacts locally. After some time a gangster started threatening my sister. She has scared her so much that even after returning home she is still scared. She said her sister had told her through video call in June this year that her life was in danger in Hong Kong. The victim’s sister said someone from Bhaini village asked her to contact Balbir Singh Seechewal. Following which she contacted him and he immediately shared the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy. She said due to Seechewal’s efforts her sister returned after a few months. The victim returned to India on October 15. Her mother, who had accompanied the victim, said that her daughter’s condition in Hong Kong was unbearable for the entire family. She said due to the efforts of the Rajya Sabha MP her daughter returned safely to her family after 12 years. Seechewal said he was a courageous person The woman was one who did not give up hope of returning home even in difficult circumstances. Thanking the Indian Embassy, ​​Sechewal said that the Ministry of External Affairs has always made a big contribution, due to which Indian girls trapped abroad have been brought back safely to India.
