Woman supervisor’s handbag stolen in Raipur DMart parking

Raipur. Raipur. An incident of theft has come to light in broad daylight in the capital Raipur. An unknown thief stole the handbag of the supervisor of the Women and Child Development Department living in Walfort Paradise Colony on Kandul Road from the parking lot of DMart. The incident took place on Friday afternoon around 1:30 pm, when the victim was putting her luggage in the scooty after shopping. In the report given to the police, the victim told that she had gone to DMart for shopping on the afternoon of 8 August. After shopping, when she started putting her luggage from the trolley in the parking lot to the scooty, an unknown thief took advantage of the movement of people on the spot and stole her dark pink colored handbag.

The stolen bag contained Samsung company’s A73 model mobile phone (IMEI number will be made available later), useful items worth about Rs 10,000, Rs 4,000 cash, driving license, Aadhar card and other important documents. The total estimated value of the stolen goods is said to be Rs 14,000. The victim said that she will hand over the purchase bill of her mobile to the police later. At present, the police have registered a case of theft against the unknown accused and started investigation. Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the accused by examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the DMart parking area. This incident happened when the victim was standing just a few steps away and putting the goods in the scooter.

Due to the crowd at the spot, no one even suspected the theft. The victim suspected that the thief was already keeping an eye on the spot and fled with the bag as soon as he got the chance. Such incidents in the city have once again raised questions on security system and parking management. People say that the number of security personnel and surveillance should be increased in crowded areas, especially in the parking of shopping malls and supermarkets, so that such incidents can be curbed. The police have appealed to the citizens to be vigilant and always keep valuables under their watch in public places. At the same time, the DMart management has also been asked to tighten security measures. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of concern among the people of the area and they want that the accused should be arrested as soon as possible and the stolen goods should be recovered.
