Woman dies, house damaged in elephant riot
Jashpur. In Dumarbahar village of Pathalgaon, an elephant created a ruckus last night by breaking houses. During the demolition of the elephant, the members present at the house managed to escape with their lives, but a woman died after being buried under the debris, while a girl was injured.
Suhani Bai died after getting buried under the debris due to the demolition of her house, on which the Forest Department immediately provided financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the family of the deceased woman. As soon as information about elephant violence was received in Pathalgaon area, forest staff including DFO reached the spot at night itself. But despite all the efforts, the elephant was not taking the name of leaving the village.
