With the onset of monsoon, the process of farming begins

Raipur. With the onset of monsoon in the state, the process of farming has started. CM Vishnudev Sai has directed the concerned officials to provide all necessary support to provide facilities to the farmers in farming. He has instructed to distribute certified fertilizers and seeds to the farmers with ease as per their demand. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, these are being continuously monitored by the officials of the Agriculture Department. So far, 6.58 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 3.68 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state.
Agriculture Department officials said that the area of sowing in farming which started with the showers of monsoon in the state is also continuously increasing. So far, various crops have been sown in 6.04 lakh hectares of area in the state. The state government has set a target of sowing various crops in 48.85 lakh hectares of area in this Kharif season. Officials said that as of June 23, 2025, an average rainfall of 62.5 mm has been recorded in the state so far, while the average annual rainfall of the state is 1238.7 mm.
Agriculture Department officials said that this year a target of distribution of 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds has been set in the state for Kharif 2025, out of which 6 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored and 3.68 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to the farmers so far, which is 74 percent of the demand. In Kharif year 2024, 4.64 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed from the Seed Corporation in the state.
Similarly, a target of 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer distribution has been set in the state this Kharif season. Against the said target, 11.36 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been stored in the cooperative and private sectors. Against the said storage, 6.58 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been distributed to the farmers, which is 45 percent of the target. It is noteworthy that in the review meeting of the Agriculture Department, CM Vishnu Dev Sai has instructed the officials to provide fertilizers and seeds to the farmers of the state easily as per their demand. Instructions have also been given to take strict action against any kind of negligence in the fertilizer-seed distribution system. Along with this, he has been asked to keep a constant watch by storing sufficient fertilizers and seeds in the societies.
