Arunachal Pradesh: The “Winter Adventure Tawang” initiative is being considered a significant step toward promoting sports and tourism in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated on April 10 that the initiative will play a key role in developing the winter sports ecosystem in the state and highlight Tawang’s tourism potential.
According to the Chief Minister, this initiative is part of a plan to establish Tawang as a major winter sports destination in the Eastern Himalayan region. He stated that the state government aims to provide new opportunities for local youth and open up employment avenues through sports activities.
Tawang is known for its natural beauty, snow-capped mountains, and serene surroundings. The winter weather here is considered conducive to winter sports, which is why this initiative was launched with this in mind. The government believes that skiing, snowboarding, and other adventure sports can be promoted in the region.
Pema Khandu stated that the Winter Adventure Tawang initiative will not only promote sports activities but also boost the local economy. The growth in tourism could create new employment opportunities for those involved in hotels, transport, and other services.
The state government is also focusing on infrastructure development under this initiative. This includes plans to improve road connectivity, tourist facilities, and develop resources necessary for sports activities. According to officials, this initiative will be implemented in a phased manner to ensure long-term development.
Tourism has already been an important sector in Tawang, but now there is a focus on developing it in a more organized and planned manner. The government aims to establish Tawang as a major tourist destination nationally and internationally.
This initiative also plans to promote local community participation. The government wants local people to be directly involved in tourism and sports activities, thereby increasing their income and contributing to the overall development of the region.
Pema Khandu also stated that collaborations will be established with experts and institutions to promote winter sports in the state. This will provide athletes with better training and facilities.
Experts believe that such initiatives could provide a new direction to both the tourism and sports sectors in Northeast India. Tawang’s geographical location and natural resources make it ideal for winter sports, which can be leveraged through this initiative.
The government also believes that such projects will help strengthen the state’s image and attract more tourists. This is also expected to provide long-term benefits to the state’s economy.
The ‘Winter Adventure Tawang’ initiative is currently being viewed as a strategic move that could give Arunachal Pradesh a new identity in the sports and tourism sectors in the coming years.
