West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to discuss pending central funds for the state.

In a statement to the media after a meeting with the party’s new MPs in the Parliament complex, Banerjee said that 155 central teams have visited Bengal.

Discussing the amount pending in the state from MNREGA, he said that according to the Constitution, it is mandatory to pay the workers.

“We do not get even a cent for every 100 days of work (other than MNREGA) in the 2022-23 budget. He (the Prime Minister) suspended funds for the housing scheme, he stopped the rural development schemes and the health mission programme. “That is also closed. We are not getting funds even from the Finance Commission”, Banerjee said.

“Our officials have given all necessary clarifications. The Prime Minister has said that Central and state officials will hold a joint meeting. Said that we have given clarification 155 times. We can do it one more time, they can take the decision. “In the federal structure, the central government also has a part and the state also has a part,” he said.

“Withholding money for the poor is not good”, Banerjee said, adding that the Center owed Bengal Occidental Rs 1.15 million.
