Weather will remain dry in Guwahati from 5-7 May before the Lok Sabha elections in Assam

Guwahati: In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, Kamrup Metro District Administration has said that liquor will not be sold in Guwahati for 48 hours. This rule will start on May 5 at 5 pm and will end on May 7 at 5 pm.

Kamrup Metro District Commissioner has decided to ban the sale and consumption of liquor in Guwahati from 5 pm on May 5 to 5 pm on May 7.

This decision is because the third phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 7. The goal is to keep things calm and ensure that the elections run smoothly.

The order said, “In pursuance of Govt. WT vide ECF No. 271931/394 dated March 29, 2024. Message and In connection with the upcoming Third Phase of the General Elections, 2024 to the Parliamentary Constituencies of Guwahati, scheduled to be held on 7/05/2024, the undersigned hereby declares ‘Dry Day’ in Kamrup Metropolitan District at 5.00 PM on 05.05.2024. /05/2024 till 5:00 pm. 07/05/2024 including the day of counting which is scheduled on 04/06/2024.”

Meanwhile, in the last phase of campaigning for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, political parties are making last-ditch efforts in all their efforts to garner support from the people for their candidates. The election campaign has reached its peak from Guwahati to the entire lower Assam region.

Voting will begin at 7 am on that day and end at 5 pm. In the four parliamentary constituencies of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta and Guwahati. Campaigning for the third and final phase of voting will end at 5 pm. On 5th May.

On Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, AGP President Atul Bora, Cabinet Ministers Piyush Hazarika, Ranjit Kumar Das, Jayant Mallabarua, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, APCC President Bhupen Bora, BTC chief Pramod Boro and others were on the campaign trail. Support for the candidates of their respective parties.

On the other hand, APCC president Bhupen Bora addressed three election rallies at Tulsibil (Gosaigaon), Ghilaguri (Abhaypuri), and Nisuka (Sorbhog) under Kokrajhar and Barpeta parliamentary constituencies.

During the rallies, Bora sought people’s support for Congress candidate from Kokrajhar Garjan Mashhari and Barpeta candidate Deep Bayan.
