Weather takes a turn in Punjab; rain to bring relief, alert issued for 13 districts

Punjab :  The monsoon has picked up pace again in Punjab. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh spell of rain has commenced in the state, offering hope for relief from the intense humidity and heat. On Monday, the weather department issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across 13 districts of the state. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in several areas over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Rain Alert for 13 Districts

According to the weather department, monsoon activity has intensified across various parts of the state. Heavy rainfall is predicted at specific locations, particularly across 13 districts. Along with the rain, there is a likelihood of lightning and strong winds; therefore, the public is advised to remain cautious.

Relief from Humidity

For the past few days, residents in most parts of Punjab have been troubled by heat and high humidity. With the reactivation of the monsoon, maximum temperatures are expected to drop. The weather is likely to become pleasant following the rain, providing much-needed relief from the heat.

Good News for Farmers

The rainfall is considered beneficial for Kharif crops. Adequate moisture for paddy and other rain-fed crops could reduce the need for irrigation. However, farmers in areas experiencing excessive rainfall are advised to ensure proper drainage arrangements in their fields.

Precautions to Take

It is essential to observe certain precautions during heavy rain and thunderstorms:

Avoid venturing into open fields during inclement weather.
Do not stand under trees or near electricity poles.
Exercise caution while traversing waterlogged roads.
Avoid unnecessary travel.
Keep an eye on the latest weather updates.

Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

The weather department predicts that intermittent rainfall is likely to continue across various parts of Punjab over the next few days. Some areas may experience heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, which could keep temperatures below normal levels.
