There was a constant flow of tourists wanting to see the snow. Even on Christmas, tourists reached Manali in large numbers to see snowfall.
Tourists did not get to celebrate White Christmas here. But lakhs of tourists definitely came to see the snow lying in Sisu. But now the tourists coming to Manali are getting disappointed due to not seeing snow. There is snow in Sisu but due to clear weather every day, it has also started melting. At the same time, tourism business also gets a lot of boost when there is snowfall in winter.
But this time all the tourist places are deserted due to lack of snowfall. Tourists are now turning to Kullu-Manali during weekends and returning after staying here for two days. If there was snow, the tourist would return after visiting Kullu-Manali for about five days. Due to lack of snow, even adventure activities are not possible. Winter sports are not happening.
Also the ski courses that used to exist. Even that is not possible. People of Lahaul-Spiti including Kullu-Manali are also eagerly waiting for snowfall this time. People are also worshiping their favorite deity regarding snowfall. Crops are suffering huge losses due to drought. Due to which farmers and gardeners are frustrated. Snowfall is also very important for Lahaul. If there is no snowfall, the remaining glaciers will shrink rapidly. Also, people will have to face a lot of problems for irrigation in summer.
At the same time, snowfall is very important for the crops at this time. That is why everyone is praying to the Gods and Goddesses for snowfall. At the same time, after the snowfall in the high peaks including Rohtang yesterday, tourism traders are hopeful of snowfall here. At the same time, on Sunday, Tsog puja and rituals were performed for snowfall by the villagers and lamas of Tod Valley at Keeh Gompa in Spiti. Everyone is worshiping the snowfall.
Manali Hotel Association President Mukesh Thakur says that due to lack of snowfall, Manali’s tourism business is suffering huge losses. Hotel owners are facing the brunt of recession. He said that tourists are reaching Manali only during the weekend. But they return after staying for two days. If there is snowfall, tourists stay to visit Manali for about five days. At the same time, there is 56 percent occupancy in Manali during weekends only. The remaining days now have 40 percent occupancy. He said everyone that there will be heavy snowfall in a few days. Hopefully so. Due to which business will also be strengthened.
