Voting for changes will be held in Sambalpur on May 25: Pradhan

Sambalpur: Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said Sambalpur will vote to change the 25-year-old government in Odisha, as the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate ended the campaign for the parliamentary constituency, which is scheduled to vote on May 25.

“The enthusiasm, happiness and blessings of the people reflects the dynamism of the state politics. People have already made up their mind to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third time and install the BJP government in Odisha.

Pradhan started his day by visiting the Samleshwari temple with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also visited the Sadhana Griha of Assamese poet and writer Lakshminath Bezbarua near Kacheri Chowk. Later, he along with BJP MLA candidate Subhash Panigrahi participated in a road show in Deogarh, where Pradhan urged people to vote for the lotus symbol.
At a public meeting in Rengali, Pradhan criticized the 25-year rule of the BJD government, citing issues like drinking water, irrigation, education and health services. He accused the government of acting as a middleman for contractors and neglecting the development of the common people. “On one hand, PM Narendra Modi is dreaming of the development of Sambalpur and Odisha, while on the other hand, during the 25 years of the BJD government, the problems of drinking water, irrigation, education, health services have pushed Odisha towards poverty.” Senior BJP leader said.

Alleging that the BJD government was acting as a middleman for the contractors, Pradhan said they were harassing people by dumping ash on their land. Pradhan further said, “While the ruling party leaders are getting money from various sources, the development of the common people is stuck.”
Urging people to vote for BJP, the Union Minister said that the BJD government is hindering the establishment of good governance in Odisha. “The Chief Minister is controlled by an outsourced person who is trying to own Odisha. The descendants of Veer Surendra Sai would never allow Tamil mercenaries to plunder the mines of Odisha. This time, the leader of Odisha will be an Odia person,” Pradhan said.

Assam Chief Minister Sarma also criticized BJD leader and close aide of the CM VK Pandian, alleging that “T in 5T governance stands for Tamil Nadu.” Sarma accused Pandian of controlling the CM.
Later in the day, Pradhan expressed his aspirations for Sambalpur before ending the election campaign.
He talked about the health care challenges of the city and cited the diarrhea outbreak in Hirakud a few months ago. People have not got a chance to vote in municipal elections for 10 years. The roads are in bad condition and the drainage system is in disrepair. He said, votes will decide who is responsible for this.
Pradhan also spoke on the delay in setting up the High Court bench in Sambalpur, vacancies in educational institutions and health facilities. He also questioned why WODC is headquartered in Bhubaneswar.
