Valentine’s Day 2026 movies flopped at the box office

Entertainment: Valentine’s Day 2026 releases weren’t anything special, and theaters are experiencing a reality check as Monday saw a significant drop in collections in the areas where they released. First up is Arjun Sarja’s Seetha Payanam. The film received very low occupancy on its opening day. With no pre-release buzz and no positive word-of-mouth, it flopped almost immediately. Trade circles say the lack of a promotional push and weak initial buzz sealed its fate early on. Meanwhile, Vishwak Sen’s Funky opened slightly better thanks to strong pre-release hype and strong pre-launch buzz. The opening was decent, but the momentum didn’t last. Weekend growth was limited, and Monday saw a sharp decline, as evidenced by collections of less than ₹1 crore. With the team slowing down promotions after release, the film now appears headed for a disappointing start. This could be a blow to Vishwak, Anudeep, and producer Naga Vamsi, who had high hopes for the project. The good news is that Couple Friendly is doing well, but not particularly well. Although the film received positive reviews and positive audience feedback, weekend numbers weren’t particularly impressive due to the India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup match. However, it’s generating decent collections and needs to remain stable during the weekdays. If this trend continues into the coming weekend, it could still be a profitable venture. Notably, Santosh and Manasa are continuing active promotions, a smart move that could help the film survive in the coming days.
