Vadodara: Appointment was given for passport even on a holiday, seeing the office closed, around 500 people created ruckus

Appointments were given to people for issue and renewal of passports at the passport office at Nizampura, Vadodara, even on a holiday on Friday. However, the people who came for passport created a ruckus seeing the office closed. As per the information received, people are allotted a slot along with date and time after applying for passport online. Today’s slots were allotted to people even though Friday 14th April is a public holiday on account of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Due to this around 500 people gathered at the passport office and many of them came from outside areas.

Why the appointment was given on April 14 is also a question

People’s anger erupted after seeing the passport office closed. Many people said that for three days messages were coming from the office that your appointment has been confirmed. Then last night after 12:30, I got the information about cancellation of appointment through SMS. Because of this, some did not even read the message. Everyone knows that there is a public holiday on Ambedkar Jayanti. Despite this, why the appointment of April 14 was given is also a question. People complained that no one is present in the office to give responsible answers. No one picks up the number written on the board. Now our appointment will be rescheduled after one month and we have to wait for one month. Instead we should be given an appointment in two or three days.

Today many people came from outside for passport

A family had come from Disa, 250 kilometers away. He said that we came to Vadodara yesterday and stayed the night in a hotel. Today I came to passport office and saw that the office is closed. Our expenses have already come upon us, but this will be another push to come from Deesa to Vadodara. Fateganj police also had to reach the spot due to the ruckus of the people. The police barely pacified the angry mob.
