Uttarayan festival celebrated in Charotar today
Anand, Nadiad: Uttarayan festival, beloved by young and old alike, will be celebrated with great pomp in Anand and the district on Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, purchasing of kites and ropes for the festival was in full swing in the markets of the district. Along with this, there was a surge in the sale of items like Avanwa masks, caps, glasses, Pipudas and balloons as per the festival.
On Sunday, on the occasion of Uttarayan festival, the sky will be filled with colorful kites and patches will be formed between the kites. Ahmedabadi market in Kheda district including Nadiad, Dabhan Bhagol, Marida Bhagol, Santram Road and Dumral market areas of the city were filled with butterflies for last minute shopping on Saturday. There was discussion among the consumers that some small and big distributors had increased the prices for last minute purchases. There was a rush in the markets of Nadiad on Saturday to buy ready-made kite-like threads and reels of raw thread. At the last moment, people from Nadiad and surrounding villages gathered to drink.
Merida, a special area for cordage in Nadiad, has recorded an increase in the sale of finished phirkis and secondhand phirkis. There is immense enthusiasm for the festival of Makar Sankranti among both the old and the young. Some kite flyers are enjoying flying kites weeks in advance for the festival. However, in the afternoon a day before the festival, kites and strings were purchased by kite makers in various markets in the city and district as well as on the highways. A huge crowd was seen at Gymnasium Road, Purana Sadak, Old Bus Stand area and Government Hospital area of the city to buy kite-strings as well as masks, caps, goggles, glasses and balloons from kite makers. On the eve of the festival, it became difficult to pass through the market area of the city on a two-wheeler due to the rush to buy festival related items.
On the other hand, food items like Chikki, Mamrana Laddu, Talsankadi, Gajak, Sonavado were also purchased in the market. On the day of Uttarayan festival i.e. Sunday, people including old and young people will enjoy flying colorful kites on Agashi from early morning. Apart from this, urban people will be seen enjoying the feast of Talsankadi, Chikki, Mamrana Laddu, Undhiyu and Jalebi. Apart from this, Agashi D.J. There are also plans to install a sound system and DJs at Agashi. It will also be seen dancing to the tune of the sound system. On Sunday, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti festival, the sky will be filled with colorful kites from early morning and kite operators will fly kites in the sky. During the festival, the atmosphere will echo with the screams of kite flyers cutting each other’s kites. Also, the joy of cutting the kite will be expressed by making noise with the sound of Pipuda.
