Please tell, Rekha Lohani Pandey is a resident of Bheta of Garud area of Bageshwar district. His in-laws house is in Ranikhet of Almora district. She has been driving a taxi from Ranikhet to Haldwani for the past two months. For the maintenance of the family, he has held the steering of the taxi. Rekha is the first woman taxi driver of Uttarakhand. In such a situation, when the State Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas called him on Monday to encourage him and congratulated him for his work, his happiness knew no bounds. Praising Rekha, Ramdas termed her decision as courageous. Also said that Rekha’s decision will not only bring prosperity to her family, but will also inspire other people.

Husband’s health suddenly deteriorated

Rekha’s husband, who retired from the Indian Army, was a tour and travel businessman. After ill health, someone else was handling the work, but due to the loss, Rekha decided to take the responsibility of the household’s finances herself. She has been driving a taxi for the last two months and provides a daily service of about 90 km from Ranikhet to Haldwani. Initially it was a bit difficult for him. Some close friends also made statements. But, Rekha ignored them and got into the taxi business prioritizing the needs of her family. She is the mother of three daughters. Rekha’s self-reliance has won everyone’s heart. He has other career opportunities as well but at the moment he is more focused on self-employment. Let Rekha be double MA. Along with this, he has studied Masters in Social Work (MSW) and Advocacy (LLB). Rekha says that women have to become self-reliant. If she does this, the family will be strong.
