Lucknow: Police went to an area. During a citizenship verification drive, a person was scanned with a mobile phone. In this context, criticism was leveled against the police. The incident took place in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a suburb of the national capital Delhi. On December 23, some police and security personnel went to an area in a restricted vehicle. A citizenship verification drive was conducted there. The identity details and other documents of the people belonging to the families living in that area were checked.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, a police officer scanned a person with a mobile phone. The mobile phone was placed behind his back. He said that the device in the mobile phone would identify whether the person was Bangladeshi or not. After checking their documents, the police left from the spot.
Meanwhile, the video clip went viral on social media, sparking criticism of the citizenship verification drive conducted by the police. Questions were raised as to whether the device and technology to verify a person’s nationality really existed.
